Password Chart

I heard about this really cool password generator on the Tech Guy (twit.tv).

Password Chart

You insert a simple, memorable phrase and an easy password, and it’ll generate a heinously long code in return. Since it’s easily reproducible by going back to this site, you can recover your passwords on demand from any computer. And you can be clever and add each website (for which you need a password) name to have customer passwords per site. Example: “I need to use better passwords on google” [or whatever site].

Problems:
1. You can’t connect to the website over SSL, so it’s sniffable on an open network.
2. The description of how the passwords are generated leads me to believe that it’s not a very strong algorithm. There’s no entropy, like you would find on Steve Gibson’s password generator.

However, for your personal use, this is probably a good tool.

  1. Or you can write them down on a Post-It and stick it on your desk somewhere.
