SproutCore and MobileMe, baby

Ack, flurry of updates!  I noticed I hadn’t written to this blog recently, so I decided to go ahead and update it about all the stuff I’ve been thinking about lately.  Oh, and I have some fun new toys I might get on video and upload here at some point (including the mini-DVI adapter so I could hook up my MacBook to my brother’s Sharp Aquos 42″ LCD TV — for use with XBMC, which may be one of the coolest things ever).

Oh, and I can’t forget the Sennheiser earbuds I bought for my iPod touch.  Preview: good sound, but what’s up with the asymmetric lengths?  A lot of manufacturers do that, and I just haven’t figured out why they think that’s a good idea.  Sigh.

Anyway, inasmuch as I was jazzed about the Snow Leopard announcement at WWDC, I’ve gotten even more excited about SproutCore, the javascript framework that Apple is using for MobileMe.  I’m not even going to bother trying to explain it.  Daniel Eran Dilger over at RoughlyDrafted.com has a great article on it here.

I went ahead and purchased a membership to .Mac ahead of the switch to MobileMe so I could get my @mac.com address.  :-)  Anyway, as good as .Mac is feature-wise (particularly with synching — pretty cool.  Not perfect but closer than most), MobileMe sounds like it’ll make that service into what it was always meant to be.

In a word: push.  As in, push updates for all your synched info.  That’s sexy.

P.S.  Apple really needs to get copy-paste into the iPhone/iPod touch because I use disgustingly long passwords, as detailed here.  Naturally, I want 1Password for my iPod, but you can’t do plugins in MobileSafari, so it’ll have to be an app you switch over to and then paste a copied password into the webpage with.
